🎂 DIY Greenery Wall Cake Backdrop
The cake table backdrop is the most-photographed spot at any birthday party. A greenery wall makes it look like a professional event planner set it up — and with faux boxwood panels, it's totally DIY-able in an afternoon. This is the one decoration that photographs above its price point every single time.

Step-by-Step Instructions
1
Figure out your size and layout
Decide how wide and tall you want the backdrop. For a cake table at a kids party, a 3x3 foot section is plenty (that's a 3x3 grid of 12-inch panels, or a 2x2 grid of 20-inch panels). Sketch it out on paper first.
2
Option A: Mount directly to the wall
Use heavy-duty command strips on the back of each panel. Press firmly and wait the recommended time before hanging (usually 1 hour). Line them up in a grid, starting from the center and working out. Check each panel is level before the adhesive fully sets.
Tip: Test one panel first to make sure the wall surface is compatible with command strips (textured walls are tricky).
3
Option B: Mount to foam board (renter-friendly)
Cut foam board or cardboard to your desired backdrop size. Hot glue the panels onto the foam board. Then lean the whole thing against the wall, or hang it from one hook at the top. Easier to move and completely wall-safe.
4
Fill gaps and add tropical accents
Push extra faux flower or leaf stems into the gaps between panels. For a dino party, use large tropical leaves and add a few orange or yellow blooms in the corners for warmth. Tuck them in firmly so they stay put.
5
Weave in fairy lights
Thread warm white fairy lights through the greenery in a loose S-pattern. Use the battery pack tucked behind a panel. This adds warmth and makes the whole area glow for photos. Turn them on an hour before guests arrive.
Tip: These panels store flat and you can reuse them for multiple parties. Think of the cost as $10 per party after the first use.
