ðĶ DIY Dino Centerpieces
These are one of my favorite party centerpieces because they do double duty: they look great on the tables and every kid gets to take one home at the end. Mini dinosaur figurines in terracotta pots with preserved moss â earthy, tactile, and genuinely cute. You can put them together in under an hour the night before the party.
What You'll Need
These quantities cover 5 centerpieces (one per table). Scale up for more tables.

Step-by-Step Instructions
1
Cut foam to fit the pot
Cut a piece of floral foam to fit snugly inside each terracotta pot. It should sit about half an inch below the rim so there's room for the moss on top. If you're using air-dry clay, press it in and let it sit for 30 minutes.
2
Position the dinosaur
Push the dinosaur figurine into the foam at a slight angle â as if it's emerging from the ground or looking around. A small T-Rex peeking over the rim of the pot is always a hit. Press firmly so it stands on its own.
Tip: Choose different dinosaur poses for each table â a grazing Brachiosaurus, a rearing T-Rex, a crouching Raptor. Guests notice the details.
3
Fill with moss
Pull apart small pieces of preserved moss and press them into the foam around the dinosaur base, covering all the foam. Pack it gently but firmly. The moss should look like the dino is standing in a lush jungle clearing.
4
Add pebbles around the base (optional)
A small ring of earth-tone pebbles around the outside of the pot adds texture and makes the whole thing feel more intentional. A single layer is enough.
5
Add a take-home tag
Write or print a small note on the kraft tag: "Take me home! — Logan's Dino Adventure." Tie it to the rim with twine. At the end of the party, tell the kids they can grab the dino off the table. Easy favor, zero assembly required.
Tip: Make one extra per table in case any get bumped and broken during setup.
