🪨 DIY Fossil Table Runner

30 minutes Easy ~$10–20 total

This is the most budget-friendly decoration on the list and one of the most effective. A roll of kraft paper printed (or hand-stamped) with fossil illustrations down the center of the table pulls the whole theme together. Buy the printable digital file from Etsy, print it at home or at Staples, cut to length, and you're done.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1
Choose your method: print or stamp
Print method (easiest): Buy the Etsy digital file, send to a print shop (Staples, FedEx Office) to print on white paper in the right dimensions. Cut to table length. Lay on the kraft paper runner, or just use the printed sheets as the runner itself.

Stamp method (more handmade feel): Buy fossil or dino bone rubber stamps, lay out the kraft paper, and stamp a repeating pattern down the length. Imperfect is charming here.
2
Cut to table length
Measure your tables and cut the kraft paper to length, leaving a few inches of overhang on each end. For a 6-foot table, cut about 6.5 feet of paper. If you're using multiple tables in a row, a continuous runner looks great.
3
Lay and secure
Unroll the kraft paper down the center of each table. Use small pieces of tape under the ends to keep it from rolling back up. The centerpieces and tableware will hold it in place during the party.
Tip: Tear the edges slightly instead of cutting them cleanly for a more natural, excavation-site look.
4
Add small fossil decorations on top (optional)
Scatter a few small dinosaur bone replicas or small fossils from a craft store on the runner between centerpieces. Party City and Hobby Lobby carry these near the party supplies section. They cost almost nothing and the detail is worth it.
